A new 1.5-acre estate in the hills below the San Bernardino Mountains. The concept was to create a series of spaces for different uses:

1) The Garden (shown here). The view from the living room looks out along the strong axis of the rill, drawing the eye outward to the pergola. Small lawn areas flank the rill, and low-water shrub/perennial borders enclose the lawn.

2) The Pool (not shown, to the right of this photo), with an upper deck to accommodate a 5’ grade change.

3) The Edible Garden (visible beyond the pergola), a extensive series of raised vegetable beds and fruit trees.
