Two adjacent estates in the foothills below the San Gabriel Mountains. One residence was designed in the style of a French manor, the other Norman. Close coordination with the architect and owners was needed to develop the garden design and planting schemes, and with DiGiacomo (now Colorado Hardscapes) to flesh out the GFRC water feature. The lower estate also required careful planting around the owner’s scale railroad. As these estates are located in the fire-prone foothills, careful attention was given to fire-safe planting palette and defensible spaces.
