The new City of Laredo community center features several sustainable features, such as a living roof with exclusively native flowering plants, storm water capture and re-use system, and grid-tied PV panels for the irrigation pump. The living roof is designed to survive in the hot Texas summers with minimal irrigation, plus provide habitat for insects and flowers for visual interest.
