A complex and unclear ownership history, safety concerns over a nearby irrigation ditch, and an existing pond with an uncertain water supply were the challenges presented in designing this 12-acre park. After shepherding the design and approval of the Mira Vista PUD through local approvals, The Laughing Earth’s principal also directed design of this park, which included passive recreation and picnic areas, structures, xeriscape demonstration gardens, and preservation of mature native cottonwood trees. Work included writing and coordinating community design surveys, and facilitation of a community meeting. Total budget: $1.2 million.
